BEATNUTS...

...are easily one of my favorite Rap Groups, EVER!! For numerous reasons, they had the best beats, duh, they rapped about stealing records, f*&king,drinking beer and smoking 'some shit'...all their albums were bangers, Stone Crazy was my shit all summer...I was so bummed 'Find Us' didn't blow sky high like "Off the Books" or "Watch Out Now" did, not saying it was any of a less banger, but I mean, dope beat,
catchy hook(by Akon none the less)...their first EP, classic,'No Equal'-wow....the first time I saw the Beatnuts live was in '94,they were on a mini promo tour with Madball, I think,def a hard core band, pretty positive it was Madball..anyway it was down near North Station somewhere, totally forget the venue, def not around anymore..I was one of the many man fans hounding JUJU at the side of the stage for a 'mix tape drop',that I never was able to get, but told him I was a 'huge fan'..how original...he was cool about it and kept it moving..come to think of it, this was the same night I had linked up with the Pimpgear Crew for the first time...anyway, in 2003 we(7L&Esoteric)toured Europe with what the promoter said was to be the grand Beatnut reunion show(JUJU, Psycho Les,Fashion with Roc Raider on the wheels)..needless to say it was going to be the best time of my life...it ended up only being JuJu and Bloody Moon and I totally forget the dudes name who dj'd for them..he managed them as well, and Non Phixion...I don't bring that up to act any less stoked! it was one of the best times ever!they ripped it every night...on thing we noticed was Juju had a saying for everything Europeaon..i.e; in Europe girls would like dress up and wear tight ass jeans w/a tank top lets say, kinda casual wear,but looking real nice,u know a night out type outfit..the kicker was, they would rock these bulky, big fat tonged sneakers...it was all over the place, and they weren't like crispy kicks either, all mangled and beat up..and Juju would call them 'Dirty ass Sneaker B*%ches',he just kinda let these things out matter of factly, and usually kinda to himself...he had many more hilarious moments/sayings, prob better to leave it at that...I ran into him a few years ago at Love in NY at a Kenny Dope party, he was still crazy cool, and was like 'what are you doing at House Night', and I asked him the same!! he replied with, "in '87 we would always go to hear Todd Terry spin and just merc dudes for their Reebok's", and then he beat boxed a fast stabby house/jackin' type beat...ala a Todd Terry Classic...my reply was only "I just like House Music"...fail...Beyonder chilled with Bloody Moon, or I believe its just Moon now, while he out in LA last year,said he was still mad cool, and has some banging ass beats...
